Narratives of trauma and resilience from Street Soccer players

Trauma exposure is a global public health concern, with lifelong psychological, social, behavioural, and physical detriments. There growing need for trauma-informed interventions, Sport Development (SfD) programmes identified as one set of promising interventions. This narrative inquiry explores the lives soccer players taking part in two SfD (e.g., Street Soccer Scotland, USA) that serve populations high rates trauma homeless, immigrant, refugee). Through interviews significant others, it became clear were using popularity appeal sport to achieve broader goals. Beyond this, they have embraced core tenets programming, cultivating growth resilience amidst an ecological framework interrelated systems.
